About Ethics in Treatment

Creating a conversation about ethics and addiction treatment by calling out bad practices and lifting up integrity in our field.

A COMMUNITY ENDEAVOR

Why we do what we do

There are many excellent addiction treatment centers out there that engage in ethical practices and sound clinical judgement. Unfortunately the ones we hear about most are the ones that are treating humans who are suffering the most like a commodity in the pursuit to wealth.  This website is about how to identify and avoid such bad-doers in the space of addiction treatment.

It should be noted that this website is not about referral networks or endorsements. We will not make recommendations about what treatment center is better than another. We might point you to resources that we have found to be helpful in finding ethical, clinically sound treatment, but we will not endorse any facilities.

This site is owned by myself, Gregory Gooden. I am an addiction treatment professional, teacher in addiction studies, and an internet professional.  This site is not in any way affiliated with any business and is donated by me with no financial ties to any person or organization.

This site was inspired by hearty conversations on the Facebook group “It’s Time for Ethics in Treatment” that I found myself engaged in, and the goal was to create a site that could educate and inform about ethics in the treatment space.

This is a new site, so watch this space for more about who we are and why we are here.
