What Can I Do?

How can you Help?

It is important to note that the majority of treatment centers are above board and have very noble missions.  It’ is the shady business practices of a few that ruin it for those who are out to treat those who are suffering. The fraudulent practices grab clients away with glitzy marketing from those who run ethical and clinically sound programs.

One one way resolve this issue of unethical practices is to report them when you find them!

Here are some ways that you can help support ethics in treatment:

  • Report Insurance Fraud – See this link to launch a website that will let you find the appropriate fraud reporting agency for your state.
  • Report criminal activity to your local police or federal bureau
  • Question the treatment center about their ethics, use of referral networks, sober living bed charging practices, etc.
  • If you have questions, you can Contact Us and we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction!

This site was inspired by hearty discussions in the “It’s Time for Ethics in Treatment” group on Facebook.

Here is part of the group’s description:

The purpose of this group is to have an open discussion about ethics in our field. It is NOT a place for self promotion, marketing, business development or related activity, and while we all want to assist the community in finding resources, this is not the forum to do so. Any and all posts soliciting treatment center recommendations or referrals or that violate the other tenets identified will be removed. This IS the place to ask and answer questions about ethics in our profession. We do not edit any member’s posts, however we will delete any that do not pertain to ethics or violate the few core tenets we operate under. Any blocking of moderators or admins will cause you to be immediately removed from the group. Please note that the naming of programs, persons or otherwise is done at your own risk. When you are joined into the group, please let us know who you are by stating your name, credentials, who you work for and your role so we can get to know you better. With that said, let the discussion begin……..
